The Annual Parish Meeting will be held in

Nether Broughton Village Hall on Monday 9th April at 7pm

This meeting is an opportunity for all residents of the parish to express their opinions or concerns regarding issues relevant to the parish.

Nether Broughton Sewage Treatment Works

Nether Broughton Sewage Treatment Works

Work is due to be carried out within the Severn Trent Water treatment works at the end of Queensway which is located as per the map shown.

It is not envisaged that the works will affect residents directly, and residents of Queensway should have received a letter to inform of the slightly increased traffic movements during the construction period.

Neighbourhood Plan - Examiners' Final Report

John Slater BA (Hons), DMS, MRTPI provided his final examiner's report on our Neighbourhood Plan on 15th December 2017.This report has been sent to the relevant bodies for consideration.

The PC will review and seek to formally accept the report at their next meeting on 8th January. The Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Committee, after studying recommendations in the report, will incorporate necessary changes into the NP and send the amended.. Read More »

Proposed Garden Village at Six Hills

You may be aware that a planning application has recently been submitted to Melton Borough Council which proposes the development of a garden village settlement in the Six Hills area. The development would include up to 2,625 homes and land for two primary schools, a secondary school and employment use.

The Wildflower Garden

Volunteers from the parish, including sections of the Old Dalby Scout Group, have been working on the wildflower garden in Old Dalby over recent months. This work continues over the next few months as we try to undertake some tidying before the winter.

We are hoping that a small working party will meet at the garden on;

Sunday 5th November from 2-4pm

Sunday 3rd December from 2-4pm

Village Security - Nether Broughton

The Parish Council has been made aware that a white van with three male occupants has been observed in Nether Broughton behaving suspiciously. The individuals have been seen looking into gardens and through windows.

In separate incidents, a number of residents of Nether Broughton with outside post boxes have reported that mail has been stolen and/or tampered with.

Planning Application at Queensway

Most parishioners will be aware of the decision by an Inspector in 2015 to grant permission for 39 houses in Queensway which has been oft quoted in support of other applications in our Parish. The same developer recently appealed to the Secretary of State on an application for a further 55 dwellings on the next block of land they own at Queensway which Melton Borough Council had not approved.

New Parish Councillor

The Parish Council co-opted a new councillor at their meeting on 3rd July.

Simon Trees replaces Graham Burton, who resigned from the council at the end of April. Simon lives on Longcliff Close in Old Dalby with his wife and three children. He is a solicitor with experience of, amongst other things, property and local governance issues.

Simon signed a Declaration of Acceptance of Office at the meeting on 7th August.. Read More »

Formal Submission of the Broughton and Old Dalby Neighbourhood Plan

At an extraordinary meeting of the Parish Council on 29th June Councillors voted unanimously to formally submit the Neighbourhood Plan for our Parish to Melton Borough Council.
