Notice of Vacancy in Officer of Parish Councillor for the Dalby Queensway Ward of the Parish of Broughton and Dalby

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that a casual vacancy exists in the office of Councillor for the Dalby Ward of Broughton and Dalby Parish Council.

If, within 14 days* after the date of this notice, a request for an election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer, Melton Borough Council, Parkside, Station Approach, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray by ten electors for the area an election will be held to fill the said vacancy. Otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the Parish Council by co-option.

* In computing any period of time for this purpose a Saturday or Sunday, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday or day appointed for public thanksgiving or mourning, shall be disregarded and any such day shall not be treated as a day for the purpose of any proceedings up to the completion of the poll nor shall the returning officer be obliged to proceed with the counting of the votes on such a day.

In this rule, "Bank Holiday" means a day which is a bank holiday under the Banking and Finance Dealings Act 1971(a) in England and Wales.
